Key differences
Pricing
Notion lists Plus at $10 and Business at $20 per member a month when billed yearly, or $12 and $24 when billed monthly. ClickUp lists Unlimited at $7 and Business at $12 per user a month billed yearly, or $10 and $19 billed monthly. At face value ClickUp’s paid plans cost less per seat, but the plans are not identical, so compare what each includes. ClickUp also sells AI as per-user add-ons, while Notion includes its main AI features in Business.
Views and structure
ClickUp lists over 15 views, including Gantt and Workload, which suit scheduling and capacity planning. Notion’s database views cover table, board, timeline, calendar, list, gallery and chart. In Notion you build the system; in ClickUp more of the structure is predefined.
Docs and knowledge
Notion’s wiki features include synced blocks, page verification and templates. ClickUp includes collaborative Docs on every plan, but it is organized around tasks rather than a knowledge base.
AI and automations
Notion Business includes Notion Agent and AI Meeting Notes, and Custom Agents run on credits at $10 per 1,000. ClickUp’s AI is sold as add-ons, and its Business plan lists 5K automations a month. We could not confirm Notion’s automation limits from the pages we reached.
Free plan limits
Notion’s free plan limits file uploads to 5 MB, keeps 7 days of page history and is unlimited for individuals but limited for teams of two or more. ClickUp’s Free Forever plan has unlimited tasks and members, but only 60 MB of storage and one form.
Ease of use and use cases
Notion rewards teams willing to design their own workspace. ClickUp rewards teams that want built-in project features and are comfortable with a larger interface. We did not test the learning curve of either.
