Best Local SEO Tools for Small Businesses, Agencies, and Multi-Location Brands
We compared BrightLocal, Whitespark, Local Falcon, Localo and Semrush Local on rank tracking, citations, reviews, reporting and pricing, and show which fits your business.

A plumber checks Google Maps from the shop and sees his business near the top. A customer three neighborhoods away sees a competitor first. Local SEO software exists to expose gaps like that, but the tools solve different problems: some track rankings on a map, some clean up listings and citations, some manage reviews, and some package reporting for agencies.
This guide compares five of them: BrightLocal, Whitespark, Local Falcon, Localo and Semrush Local. The right one depends on what you need to fix, how many locations you have and how much you want to spend. If you also want help with Google Business Profile posting, see our guide to Google Business Profile scheduling tools.

This is an editorial judgment based on vendor documentation.

How we selected these tools
We chose five products that cover distinct jobs: all-in-one management, map rankings, citations, low-cost profile management and an add-on for an existing platform. We relied on official pricing pages and product pages checked on October 11, 2026, plus Google’s own documentation. We also tried to review Moz Local, but its site blocked our access, so it isn’t included.
The five tools
1. BrightLocal: best all-in-one local SEO platform
Verdict: The best default for a business or agency that wants rankings, audits, listings and reviews in one place.
BrightLocal sells three tiers per location count. Track ($41 a month, or $31 a month billed annually, for one location) covers a local AI visibility tracker, audits, rank monitoring for up to 100 keywords and four competitors, geo-grid maps for up to five keywords, citation accuracy monitoring and Google Business Profile audits. Manage ($54, or $40 annually) adds AI Insights, listing sync and scheduled GBP posts. Grow ($65, or $49 annually) adds review monitoring, review requests by email, SMS and in-store campaigns, and review publishing on your website. Costs rise with locations: 11 to 20 locations on Grow is $197 a month or $148 annually, and plans above 250 locations are quoted. A 14-day trial needs no card. Its citation builder is pay-as-you-go from $2 per citation. White-labeling is listed as a feature, but we couldn’t confirm which plan includes it.
- Strengths: Breadth, clear tiers, a trial, pay-as-you-go citations.
- Trade-offs: Per-location pricing, and the geo-grid is limited to five keywords on Track.
- Choose it if: You want one tool for several jobs. Choose a competitor if: You mainly need deep map-grid tracking.
2. Local Falcon: best for local rank tracking
Verdict: The most focused tool here for seeing how rankings change from one block to the next.
Local Falcon scans a grid of points around a business and shows where it appears in the map results. It uses credits, one per data point, with grids from 3×3 up to 21×21. Plans are Starter at $24.99 a month (7,500 credits), Basic at $49.99 (15,150), Pro at $99.99 (31,250) and Premium at $199.99 (63,150), with annual plans priced lower per year. New accounts get 100 free credits, and extra credits cost $0.05 each. Monthly credits expire at month end. Its pricing page has some inconsistencies between table and FAQ for the Premium plan, so confirm figures with the vendor. It has Looker Studio and Zapier integrations on most plans.
- Strengths: Grid-based visibility, flexible credits, integrations.
- Trade-offs: Scans use up credits, and it doesn’t manage listings or reviews.
- Choose it if: You need to show a client or owner where visibility drops off. Choose a competitor if: You need citations and reviews.
3. Whitespark: best for citations and reviews
Verdict: A specialist for citation research and building, with review tools as an add-on.
Whitespark’s Local Citation Finder runs from $33 to $149 a month, its Local Rank Tracker from $14 to $200 a month, and its citation building service is a one-time fee from $20 to $999. Its Reputation Builder for review collection is $79 a month per location, with custom pricing for multi-location brands. The pricing page doesn’t list plan limits or what each package includes, so ask before buying. It also offers free tools, including a review link generator, a review checker and a local ranking checker.
- Strengths: Citation depth, free tools, one-time building packages.
- Trade-offs: Several separate products, and unclear limits.
- Choose it if: You need to find and fix citation gaps. Choose a competitor if: You want one dashboard for everything.
4. Localo: best budget option for Google Business Profiles
Verdict: An affordable way to manage a profile, or many, without a big suite.
Localo’s Single Business plan is $39 a month billed annually ($49 monthly) for one profile. Pro is $149 a month annually ($169 monthly) for agencies and freelancers, with team access and bulk posting. Enterprise is quoted. Every plan has a 14-day free trial with no card and a 30-day money-back guarantee. The Pro profile limits are inconsistent across the page (some text says 60 profiles, the FAQ says 2 to 120), so verify before you sign up.
- Strengths: Low price, trial and guarantee, built for profile work.
- Trade-offs: Narrower than a full local suite, and unclear limits.
- Choose it if: You’re a freelancer or a small agency on a budget. Choose a competitor if: You need citation building at depth.
5. Semrush Local: best for teams already on Semrush
Verdict: A reasonable add-on if your team already works in Semrush, but we couldn’t verify its price.
Semrush describes Local as a set of tools to manage your Google Business Profile, online listings and reviews, plus local competitive intelligence. Its product page shows no prices and doesn’t mention a map rank tracker, so we can’t confirm that feature. Check the Semrush plans page for current pricing and availability. For Semrush’s broader SEO platform, see our AI SEO tools guide.
- Strengths: Fits into an existing Semrush workflow.
- Trade-offs: Pricing and rank-tracking details weren’t verifiable.
- Choose it if: Your team already uses Semrush. Choose a competitor if: You need transparent per-location pricing.

How local rank tracking works
Local organic results, Google Maps results and the Local Pack aren’t the same, and rankings change with the searcher’s location, query and device. Google says it ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence, and that there’s no way to pay for a better local ranking. A single ranking report from one spot can mislead. Grid tracking, as in Local Falcon, shows how visibility changes around a business. It shows where you appear, but it doesn’t prove that those positions cause calls or sales.
Google Business Profile versus paid software
You can manage a profile directly in Google at no cost: update details, post updates, add photos and reply to reviews. Paid tools add multi-location management, scheduling, reporting and monitoring. A single-location business doesn’t need a paid tool to start.
Citations, listings and reviews
Citation research finds where your business should be listed, citation building creates listings, distribution pushes data to many sites, and monitoring checks that details stay consistent. Volume alone doesn’t mean quality, so don’t pay for hundreds of directory submissions you don’t need. For reviews, monitor and respond, and ask customers honestly. Don’t buy reviews, gate them or offer incentives that violate Google’s policies.
